UNIVERSITY OF CRAIOVA FACULTY OF LETTERS THE ROMANIAN SOCIETY FOR CLASSICAL STUDIES – CRAIOVA BRANCH Organises THE INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM THE RECEPTION OF GRECO-LATIN ANTIQUITY IN EUROPEAN CULTURES 10th ANNIVERSARY EDITION, With the topic Greco-Roman Discursive Tradition

May 26, 2018 Craiova - Romania FIRST CALL FOR PAPERS Preserved and transmitted through specific models, the Greco-Roman discursive tradition has left deep traces in Western culture at the level of oratory, political, philosophical, philological discourse, etc., continuously structuring, more or less conspicuously, more or less consciously, our way of thinking and acting. This year’s edition of the colloquium dedicated to the reception of Greco-Latin antiquity in Western cultures aims to bring back to mind this diverse discursive tradition, from which we still feed ourselves. The theme is open to addressing a broad discursive typology or to related topics, recalling the permanent link of the Western culture to this cultural basin from which it has been systematically fed itself and to which it still returns.

Therefore we invite to this 10th anniversary edition, with the theme Greco-Roman Discursive Tradition, academics, teachers, researchers, PhD students and master students. The proposed topic can be approached from the methodological perspectives of: - literature, civilization, history, mythology - imagology, mentalities - linguistics or any other related area they deem appropriate. The languages in which the colloquium is held are: Romanian, French, English, Spanish, Italian, German.
